Indian Hills 5k & Fun Run
The Indian Hills 5k & Fun Run is an athletic event hosted by the Oklahoma City Pow Wow Club at Scissortail Park in Oklahoma City. This race serves as the official opening for the Indian Hills Pow Wow, a cultural tradition that has been maintained for over 75 years. The event features a USATF certified course that navigates through the park's gardens, lawns, and lakefront trails.
The event offers two distinct distances for participants:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- Fun Run/Walk (1 mile)
Participants will experience cultural elements throughout the morning, including performances by drummers and Pow Wow singers providing traditional prayer songs. Recorded music and an emcee are also present during the event. Organized yoga sessions led by certified instructors are available for participants before and after the races.
Registrants for the 5K receive a timed race bib, while all participants receive a custom finisher medal. The top male and female finishers in the 5K distance are awarded Pendleton blankets. Additional race apparel, such as custom tees, is available during the registration process. Food services are provided on-site by a Native American-operated concession truck offering a variety of breakfast dishes for purchase. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
