Oceana County Vet Day 5K
The Oceana County Vet Day 5K is an annual running event organized by the Oceana County Department of Veteran Affairs. Held on the second Saturday of November, the race serves as the primary fundraising initiative for the organization. All proceeds from the event remain within the county to provide essential services for local veterans, including food pantry access and transportation to medical appointments.
The course begins and ends at the renovated Getty Park located in downtown Shelby. Participants follow a route that heads north along Industrial Drive before looping back toward the south via the Hart-Montague Trail. This is a timed race, and results are recorded for all participants completing the 5K distance.
Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in two specific age divisions:
- Participants 18 years of age and under
- Participants 19 years of age and older
Registration for the event is available online in advance, and same-day registration is also offered on-site. The event provides a structured competitive environment while supporting veteran outreach programs in the Oceana County area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
