Ocean View Half Marathon & 5K
The Ocean View Half Marathon & 5K takes place in Ipswich, Massachusetts, starting and finishing at Ipswich High School. The event offers two distinct running distances:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 5K
The 5K course is mostly flat and follows the initial sections of the half marathon route. Participants run along Linebrook Road and Mile Lane, passing the local Clam Box of Ipswich restaurant before heading back to the high school. One aid station is provided along the route.
The Half Marathon begins with several flat miles and leads participants past historic first-period homes. The route travels to Great Neck, offering views of the beach, marsh, and ocean. After completing a loop around the neck, the course returns to town. Water stations are located approximately every two miles, and portable restrooms are available at the start, finish, and three points along the course.
All finishers receive a medal. Performance awards are provided to the top three male and female finishers in various age groups, ranging from 19 and under to 75-79. These awards must be collected at the race, as there is no formal ceremony and items will not be mailed.
The races occur on roads that remain open to vehicle traffic, monitored by the local Police Department. Parking is available in lots at the high school on a first-come, first-served basis, with additional parking located on Hammatt Street and South Main Street.
