Event Overview
The Oakadoke Trail Runs take place at Creekside Trails in Valparaiso, Indiana. The course utilizes the local trail system to provide a variety of Midwest terrain, featuring scenic tree-covered single-track paths, winding switchbacks, and views of surrounding farmland. Participants cross several bridges over Salt Creek as they navigate the route.
The event offers three distinct distances:
- 18 miles: Consists of two full loops of the 9-mile course.
- 9 miles: One full loop through the entire trail system.
- 4 miles: A shorter route that focuses on the Salt Creek section of the trails.
The terrain is characterized by uneven surfaces with numerous twists, turns, and elevation changes. While there are no mountains, the course is not flat. This is a cupless event, meaning runners must carry their own hydration containers, such as bottles or vests, to refill at aid stations. Aid stations are positioned every 2.0 to 4.4 miles and provide water, electrolyte drinks, fruit, and snacks.
Participant Information
The race staging area is located at Twin Creeks Farm, where parking is available for participants. Each runner receives a custom finisher award upon completing their distance. Special awards are also presented to the top three male and female finishers in each category. A post-race meal and beverages are provided for participants and volunteers at the finish line area.
Participants are permitted to run with leashed dogs, provided they can safely navigate technical single-track sections. The event also supports the Youth Trail Running initiative with specific pricing for runners aged 19 and under. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
