Event overview
The 2026 NYS Winter Run Series is a four-race 5K series held at New York State parks on four dates in January and February. Each race is a 5K (3.1 mi) and has a themed dress element.
- 5K : January 11 : Heckscher State Park, East Islip : Red/White/Blue theme
- 5K : January 18 : Robert Moses State Park, Babylon : Silly Socks & Hats theme
- 5K : January 25 : Sunken Meadow State Park, Kings Park : Shine Bright! theme
- 5K : February 1 : Jones Beach State Park, Wantagh : Throwback theme
Registration, logistics and rules
Registration options include a full series fee listed at $50 and single-race registration at $20 per race. Full-series participants receive a long sleeve shirt and giveaway items; refreshments are provided after races only to runners wearing an official race number. Bib pickup for full-series registrants is scheduled at Long Island State Park Headquarters on specified days before the first race; single-race bib pickup is on the day of each event.
Water is available at the start and finish only. Digital clocks are placed at every mile. Medals will be presented to the first three male, female and non-binary finishers per race in each age category, from 12 & Under up through 90+. No baby joggers, rollerbladers, skaters, bikers or pets are permitted on the course. Safety guidance and cold-weather tips are provided for participants.
