NYCRUNS Spring Fling 5K

The NYCRUNS Spring Fling 5K is an organized run held on Governors Island in New York Harbor. The event supports Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, a philanthropic organization that provides medication, meals, and emergency assistance to those affected by HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses.

The race follows a USATF-certified course consisting of one loop around the island. Participants can view landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the lower Manhattan skyline during the run. The event utilizes a pace-based corral system for the start, with assignments determined by the runner's profile.

Registered participants receive several amenities, including:

  • 5 km distance
  • Complimentary ferry transportation for runners and guests
  • A technical race shirt
  • Post-race refreshments including fresh fruit and bagels
  • One complimentary digital photo

The festival area, located near the ferry terminal, serves as the hub for bib and shirt pickup, bag check, and portable restrooms. Bibs are available for pickup on the morning of the race, or they can be mailed to participants who register at least 20 days in advance for an additional fee or via membership.

The course features numerous turns; therefore, it is not recommended for handcycle or wheelchair athletes. Strollers and dogs are not permitted on the course. Access to the event is provided via the Governors Island Ferry from the Battery Maritime Building in Manhattan. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
