The Race
The NYCRUNS Spring Fling 5K takes place on Governors Island. Registration for the event supports Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, a charity providing support for people affected by HIV/AIDS and other illnesses nationwide.
The Course
The 5K course is USATF-certified and consists of a single loop around Governors Island. The organizers note that due to a high number of turns on the course, they do not advise handcycle or wheelchair athletes to register.
Event Details
The event features a Festival Area near the ferry terminal for bib and shirt pickup, bag check, and restrooms. A pace-based start corral system with assigned letters (AA-F) is used. Post-race refreshments include water, fresh fruit, and bagels. Participants receive a tech shirt and one complimentary digital photo.
Entry includes a free ferry ride for participants and guests from the Battery Maritime Building in Manhattan. The recommended ferries depart at 7:00 AM or 7:30 AM. Bibs can be picked up on race morning in the Festival Area using a QR code, or mailed in advance for NYCRUNS members or for an additional fee.
