NYCRUNS Spring Fling 5K : Governors Island (March 28, 2026)
The event is a 5K road race held on Governors Island that benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The course is USATF-certified and makes one loop of the island. Ferry rides for runners and guests are included with race entry. Race entry includes a tech shirt (picked up on race day only), post-race refreshments including fresh fruit and a bagel with schmear, and race photos delivered by MarathonFoto.
Course, logistics and rules
The Festival Area near the ferry terminal is the location for bib and shirt pick-up, bag check, bathrooms, and post-race refreshments. Start corrals are pace-based and assigned by letter (AA-F); corral assignment appears on the bib. Bag check requires a single clear bag (18" x 24"); organizers may provide a clear bag and may search contents. Water and electrolyte fluids are available on course and at the finish. Bibs are available for pick up on race morning via a unique QR code; NYCRUNS members can opt to have bibs mailed if registered 20+ days before the event and to a U.S. address. Handcycle and wheelchair athletes are not advised due to many turns. Awards go to the top three male, female, and non-binary finishers overall (by gun time) and to the top three in each age group by net/chip time. Standard no-refunds, no-transfers policy applies; strollers and dogs are not allowed; time limits and marshal directions must be followed for safety.
