NYCRUNS Frozen Pigeon 5K : Prospect Park, Brooklyn
The NYCRUNS Frozen Pigeon 5K takes place on January 16, 2027, in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. The course is just under one full loop of the park and finishes with a final sprint up Center Drive. All NYCRUNS courses are USATF certified.
The Festival Area is located in the Nethermead and is accessible via Center Drive or the walking paths off Well House Drive. The finish line returns runners to the Festival Area. Start corrals are pace based, assigned by letter (AA through F), and are located on Well House Drive; corral assignments are printed on the race bib and are derived from the pace listed in the NYCRUNS Dashboard.
On race day there is bag check using a single clear bag (18 x 24 provided if needed), portable bathrooms in the Festival Area and on course, participant tech shirt distribution, a finisher medal, post-race bagel options (everything, plain, cinnamon raisin with schmear) and New York State apples. Photos from the event are emailed after the race and one photo may be downloaded for free.
Bib pickup occurs in the Festival Area on race day and requires a unique QR code; NYCRUNS members may receive their bibs by mail at no extra cost while non-members can add mail delivery for an additional fee if conditions are met. Handcycle and Wheelchair divisions are supported. Results are emailed and posted online. Awards are given to the top three male, female, and non-binary overall finishers by gun time, with age group awards by net time across standard age brackets.
Pricing varies by registration date and membership status. The standard no-refunds, no-transfers policy applies; NYCRUNS members may withdraw for race credit. Strollers and dogs are not allowed and the event enforces time limits and other race rules. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
