About the race
The NYCRUNS Big Apple Half Marathon takes place on December 13, 2026 in Central Park, New York. It is the tenth annual running of the event, held as the first race in the Central Park winter race series, and includes an official finisher medal.
The event is a 13.1 mile half marathon run on a looped course around Central Park. Course details are released closer to race day and NYCRUNS courses are USATF certified. A course map from the 2025 edition is available for reference.
Start corrals are pace based and assigned by letter (AA to F); the corral letter is printed on each bib and is determined from the pace entered in the runner’s NYCRUNS Dashboard. Bibs are available for pick up in the festival area on race day; members may opt to have bibs mailed subject to registration timing and U.S. mailing address rules. Participant shirts are distributed on race day only and sizes are not guaranteed.
On course and event amenities include a bag check (single clear bag 18 x 24 provided if needed), portable bathrooms, post race bagel selections and a large apple, official tech shirts, finisher medals at the finish, and race photography with one free photo download and optional photo packages. Mass transit is recommended; parking is limited. Due to the multi-loop course, handcycle and wheelchair athletes are not advised to register for this race.
Award and prize structures are in place including overall and age group awards and prize money for eligible NYCRUNS members. The event follows NYCRUNS policies on refunds, transfers, race conduct, and time limits; strollers and dogs are not permitted and certain equipment or actions may lead to disqualification.
