NYCRUNS Big Apple Half Marathon

Established in 2017, this annual event takes place in Central Park. The race serves as the final event of the 2026 calendar and acts as the opening race for the Central Park winter race series. The course is USATF-certified, providing a professionally measured route through the park during the holiday season.

Participants follow a pace-based corral system, with assignments ranging from letters AA through F based on the runner's profile. The event utilizes the North Meadow ballfields area near 102nd Street for various participant services.

Available distances:

  • Half Marathon (USATF-certified course)

The event includes several amenities for participants. A bag check service is available, requiring the use of a single clear bag. Hydration stations providing water and electrolytes are positioned on the course and at the finish line. After completion, runners receive a finisher medal and post-race food, which includes varieties of bagels and fresh apples. Participants also receive a long-sleeve race shirt, which is distributed on race day.

The course is a multi-loop layout. Because of this configuration, the organizers do not recommend the event for handcycle or wheelchair athletes. All participants must adhere to a specific time limit to receive official course support and result scoring.

Awards are presented to the top three overall male, female, and non-binary finishers based on gun time. Age group awards are also provided for three finishers in various categories ranging from under 19 to over 80. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
