Event overview
The Not-A-Sprint Ultra Races is the 5th annual multi-distance endurance event organized by Cancer Active in Forest City, NC. The course uses the Thermal Belt Rail Trail and is an 8.34-mile out-and-back paved loop that starts and finishes at the Pavilion on Park Square (POPS). The route has about 95 ft of elevation change over the loop and shade covers roughly 35 percent of the course. Aid stations are described as well-stocked. Medical personnel will be on site.

Relay teams consist of three runners; each team member must run at least one lap. All relay transitions and timing occur at the Pavilion at Park Square timing pad. Runners must wear their race numbers on the front; numbers may be attached to shorts or a bib belt if running shirtless. Pacing rules: 3-hour and 6-hour runners may not have pacers; 12-hour runners may have a pacer after six hours. Pacers must be 18 or older, check in at the Forest City timing station, and sign a liability waiver. Support crews may assist only in the Forest City aid station area and may not assist on the course. Drop bags for the Spindale aid station must be labeled and ready for transport by 5:30 AM on race day. Awards are planned for top 3 male and female individuals and top 3 teams; runners completing 50 miles within 12 hours earn a belt buckle. Headphones are allowed; dogs are not allowed on the course.
