Not A Sprint Ultra Races
Cancer Active presents the 5th Annual Not A Sprint Ultra Races, an endurance event produced by Throwing Bones with three timed options:
- 12-hour endurance event
- 6-hour endurance event
- 3-hour endurance event
The course follows the paved Thermal Belt Rail Trail and uses the Pavilion on Park Square (POPS) in Forest City as the start/finish and transition area. Each lap is about 8.35 miles out-and-back with few road crossings, roughly 95 feet of elevation change per loop, and approximately 35% shade along the route. Aid stations are located at Forest City (POPS) and Spindale; Forest City is stocked with water, Tailwind, snacks, and treats while Spindale provides water and Tailwind. Drop bags are handled at the Spindale aid station.
Event conduct and support rules are specified: 12-hour runners may have a pacer after six hours (pacers must be 18 or older and register); 3-hour and 6-hour runners may not have pacers. Support crews may assist only in the Forest City aid station area. All team transitions occur at the timing pad at POPS and runners wear bib numbers on the front.
Amenities include a T-shirt, medal, awards, hydration and fuel at aid stations, post-race food, and one post-race beer. Chip timing will record laps at the Spindale turnaround and the Forest City start/finish. Medical personnel will be on site. Dogs are allowed at POPS but are not permitted on the course. Parking is available adjacent to the Pavilion on Park Square. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
