Event overview
The Not-A-Sprint Ultra Races is the 5th annual endurance event presented by Cancer Active in Forest City, NC. The course is an out-and-back paved route that starts and finishes at the Pavilion on Park Square (POPS). The loop is about 8.34 miles long, is mostly flat with only about 95 ft of elevation change, and has shade covering about 35% of the route. Aid stations are described as well-stocked. Medical personnel will be on-site in Forest City for assistance.
Race details and rules
The event offers timed race options of 3 hours, 6 hours, and 12 hours. Runners aiming for 50 miles would complete six laps (about 50.1 miles) in the 12-hour event and receive a commemorative belt buckle if they reach 50 miles within 12 hours. Relay teams are allowed; each relay member must complete at least one lap. Pacing rules differ by race length: pacers are not allowed for the 3-hour and 6-hour races; 12-hour runners may have a pacer after six hours. Pacers must be 18 or older and sign a waiver at the timing station. Support crews may assist only in the Forest City aid station area. Drop bags for the Spindale aid station must be labeled and ready for transport by 5:30 AM on race day. Race officials will monitor transition areas, headphones are allowed, and dogs are not allowed on the course.
