About the race
Not-A-Sprint Ultra Races is a timed endurance event held on September 5, 2027 in Forest City, NC. The sixth annual race is presented by Cancer Active and benefits that organization.
The event offers three timed choices:
- 12 hour race
- 6 hour race
- 3 hour race
All events use the paved Thermal Belt Rail Trail with a start and finish at the Pavilion on Park Square in downtown Forest City. The course is an 8.34 mile out and back route with about 95 feet of elevation change and roughly 35% tree cover. Aid stations are described as well stocked. This is a cupless event so participants must bring their own cup, bottle, or hydration pack.
Rules and services include pacing and crew restrictions, visible race numbers, recorded mileage at turnaround and finish, drop bag handling, and course monitoring by officials and volunteers. For the 12 hour race, runners who complete 50 miles within the time limit receive a custom Not-A-Sprint 50 Mile belt buckle. Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers in each timed event. Dogs are not permitted on the race course with participants.
