21st Annual Bear Foot 5K
The Bear Foot 5K is an annual community event held at Sunshine Elementary School in Bostic, North Carolina. The race proceeds are used to benefit the K-5 students at the school. The event takes place regardless of weather conditions, and pets are not permitted on the course.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- Half Mile (0.5 miles)
The 5K race includes competitive categories with trophies awarded to the top three male and female overall finishers. Additionally, medals are presented to the top three male and female participants across a wide range of age groups, spanning from 5 and under to over 95 years old. Participants who register for the 5K by the late February deadline are eligible for their preferred shirt size, while those registering later may receive shirts based on remaining availability.
The Half Mile Fun Run is a non-timed event specifically for children in the 5th grade and under. There is no registration fee for this distance, and all participating children receive a medal. This shorter run does not include an event shirt. A phantom runner option is also available for those who wish to support the school without participating in the physical race. Packet pickup is scheduled on-site at the school on the day prior to the race and on the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
