Norwich Vermont Turkey Trot
The Norwich Turkey Trot is an informal community walk and run held on Thanksgiving morning in Norwich, Vermont. The event is based at the gazebo on the Norwich Green. No registration or fee is required; donations are voluntary and may be made to the Upper Valley Haven. Dogs on leashes are allowed.
- 2 mile walk or run
- 4.4 mile walk or run
The trot collects donations for the Upper Valley Haven, a non-profit organization that provides food, shelter, education, service coordination, and other support to people in the Upper Valley region of Vermont and New Hampshire. The Haven is open 365 days per year, does not charge for its services, and serves over 14,500 people annually.
The event began in 2008 when a few local residents organized a community trot and donation drop-off at the Haven. Over the years it has grown to attract many participants and to raise substantial financial and in-kind support for the Haven. Donations are generously matched by a foundation, doubling their impact. Turkey Trot hats are available with a donation and will be distributed in person on Thanksgiving morning. In 2020 the trot was held as a virtual event.
