Northern Athletics Road Relay Championships
The Northern Athletics Men's 12 Stage and Women's 6 Stage Road Relay Championships take place at Sheepmount Stadium in Carlisle. This competitive club event is held under UKA rules and requires participants to be at least 17 years old. The competition is open to clubs affiliated with Northern Athletics and England Athletics, with all runners required to be first-claim members and registered with England Athletics.
The championships consist of the following relay distances:
- Men's 12 Stage Relay: Four long legs of approximately 7 km and eight short legs of approximately 5 km.
- Women's 6 Stage Relay: Two long legs of approximately 7 km and four short legs of approximately 5 km.
Medals are awarded to the top three finishing clubs in both categories. Additional awards are presented for the fastest long leg, fastest short leg, and the fastest Under 20 athlete on a short leg. A bronze medal is also designated for the first "B" team to cross the finish line.
Participants must wear club vests or crop tops of the same design. In the Men's event, the top 25 "A" teams and any "B" teams finishing ahead of them qualify for the ERRA National Championships. For the Women's event, all affiliated Northern Athletics clubs are eligible for the national championships. Team declarations and changes are managed exclusively through an online system before the event begins. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
