North Star Ultra

The North Star Ultra is a long-distance endurance event based at Kielder Castle. Participants face a total distance of 170 miles of trail, organized into five distinct legs that extend outward from the central base. The course is designed with a star configuration, featuring legs heading North, East, South East, South West, and West.

Participants have the flexibility to choose the order in which they complete the first four legs. However, the North leg must be completed last. The legs vary in terrain and difficulty; some are shorter with steep climbs, while others are longer or more exposed. Every leg follows an out-and-back format.

Athletes can enter under three different categories:

  • Solo
  • Pairs
  • Quads

Support is provided throughout the event. For all legs except the North leg, there is a dedicated indoor location and support team at the turnaround point. For the North leg, the turnaround point is situated outdoors. To ensure safety, all participants are tracked throughout the competition, and standby teams are available to provide assistance if required.

The event is open to individuals aged 18 and older. The rankings are determined based on the furthest distance achieved within the time limit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
