North Star Ultra
The North Star Ultra is an endurance trail event consisting of five different legs that extend from a central base like the points of a star. Participants navigate routes towards the North, East, South East, South West, and West. The total distance covered for the event is 170 miles.
All legs start from Kielder Castle. Runners have the flexibility to choose the order in which they complete the first four legs; however, the North leg must be the final section of the event. Each leg is designed as an out and back route. While the turnaround points for most legs feature indoor locations with support teams, the North leg turnaround point is located outdoors.
Participation is open to individuals aged 18 and older. The event accommodates various team formats including:
- Solo
- Pairs
- Quads
The routes vary in characteristics, featuring different distances, steep climbs, and exposed sections. Participants are monitored via tracking systems throughout the duration of the event. Rankings are determined based on the furthest distance achieved within the 36-hour window. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
