NORTH FORK ENVIRONMENTAL COUNCIL EARTH DAY 5K
The North Fork Environmental Council Earth Day 5K takes place on April 26, 2026 at Indian Island County Park in Riverhead, NY. The event is held rain or shine and offers day of registration on site. Event options listed include the Earth Day 5K individual entry, a family of four entry (two adults and two kids), and an under 16 entry.
Participants are asked to bring their own water bottle to reduce single use cups at the water stop. Each participant will receive a reusable tote bag. Age group awards are presented to the top three male and female overall finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in the following age groups: Under 8, 9-12, 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, over 70.
Proceeds from the event will be used to fund the 2026 NFEC Scholarship Fund and environmental educational programs. The North Fork Environmental Council is described as a small environmental not-for-profit located on the North Fork of Long Island. Its stated mission includes increasing public awareness of key issues, educating the public and officials about environmental and quality of life matters, providing an objective voice, amplifying the public’s voice, and offering input on public policies and legislation.
