North Beach 5K Run/Walk
The North Beach 5K Run/Walk takes place in July at North Beach Oasis, 100 Kewaunee Street, Racine, WI 53402. The event benefits the Friends of Racine Parks Recreation and Cultural Services, Inc. and is open to all ages and abilities.
The course is an out and back that begins at the North Beach Oasis. Runners head north on a paved bike trail with views of Lake Michigan on the right, continue onto Michigan Blvd, then turn around and return to the finish.
Top three male and female finishers in each five year age group receive recognition pins. All finishers receive a custom finisher medal, a commemorative towel while supplies last, a complimentary beer for participants over 21, a goodie bag, and entry into a post race raffle.
Packet pickup is available at the North Beach Oasis on race day. Parking is available at the North Beach Oasis and in the surrounding area. General entry fees listed by the organizer are Adults $30, Youth 17 and under $15, and Remote Runners $35.
The event page highlights water safety for Lake Michigan: always swim in designated areas with lifeguards, never swim alone, pay attention to conditions and warning flags, and if caught in a rip current swim parallel to shore until out of the current then return to shore.
