North Beach 5K - Racine
The North Beach 5K is a run/walk held on July 12 in Racine, Wisconsin, at the North Beach Oasis at 100 Kewaunee Street. The event benefits Friends of Racine Parks Recreation and Cultural Services, Inc. and is open to a range of participant categories including youth and remote runners.
The course is an out and back route that begins at the North Beach Oasis. Participants head north on a paved bike trail with views of Lake Michigan on the right, continue onto Michigan Boulevard, reach a turnaround, and return to the finish at the Oasis.
Awards recognize the top three male and female finishers in each five year age group with pins. All finishers receive a custom finisher medal; other event items include a commemorative towel while supplies last, a goodie bag, entry into a post-race raffle, and a complimentary beer for those aged 21 and over. General registration fees listed are Adults $30, Youth 17 and under $15, and Remote Runners $35. Packet pickup is available at the North Beach Oasis on race day. Parking is available at the Oasis and in surrounding areas.
The event page includes information on Lake Michigan rip currents and basic water safety advice such as swimming in designated areas with lifeguards, not swimming alone, watching warning flags, and swimming parallel to shore if caught in a rip current.
