Northampton 5K Cross Country Races
The Northampton 5K Cross Country Races are a weekly 5 km cross-country series organized by the Sugarloaf Mountain Athletic Club. The series runs each year from the first Tuesday in April through the last Tuesday in August on an accurately measured 5 km course that passes through fields and woods. The starting area is located just past the Northampton Community Gardens on Burts Pit Road, about one mile from the center of town.
Races are held regardless of typical weather conditions; organizers will consider canceling for extreme heat (temperatures above 99) and will delay starts for lightning. Entry is day of registration only with a cash fee of $7. Credit card and mobile payment are accepted at a slightly higher fee of $7.50. Participants under 17 register and run free. A season pass is available and is advertised as providing a savings over individual entries.
Weekly results are recorded and series standings and record holders are maintained for the NOHO 5K XC Race Series. The event has averaged more than 70 finishers per race in recent years. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
