New England Green River Marathon
The New England Green River Marathon takes place on Sunday, August 23, 2026. The race is a point to point route that begins in Marlboro, Vermont and finishes at Greenfield Community College in Greenfield, Massachusetts. The course follows the Green River and passes through an 1870s covered bridge, with the finish area described as being in the shade of maple trees at the college.
The course is USATF certified, certification number MA18003JK, and has a net 1,400 foot drop over a rolling, downhill profile. Because the net downhill is less than 1500 feet, Boston Athletic Association downhill result indexing does not apply to this course. The organizer notes that the route has produced many personal best and Boston qualifying times for well trained runners.
Registration for the 2026 race opens at noon on January 1, 2026. Entry options include standard marathon registration and charity-linked entries that require a minimum donation; listed partner organizations include the Connecticut River Conservancy, Sugarloaf Mountain Athletic Club, and Unite 2 Fight Paralysis. The race listing also identifies Greenfield Community College at 1 College Drive, Greenfield, MA 01301, as the finish location. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
