Event overview

The Santa Barbara Nine Trails endurance event on March 14, 2026 is a trail running event based at the Jesusita Trailhead on San Roque Road in Santa Barbara, CA. The event offers the following courses:

  • 35 mile endurance run
  • Half course out-and-back between Jesusita Trailhead and the Gibraltar Road aid station

The full course covers most of the Santa Barbara front country trail system, running from Jesusita Trailhead to Romero Canyon Trailhead and back.

Course and logistics

The 35 mile course includes more than ten thousand vertical feet of ascent and descent on steep, rocky and technical trails. Named sections include Inspiration Point, Tunnel Trail, Rattlesnake Trail, Gibraltar Road, West Cold Spring Trail, Cold Spring Trail, Edison Catwalk, Buena Vista Trail and Romero Canyon. The course will be minimally marked with colored ribbon and participants are required to use GPX digital mapping; a GPX file will be provided prior to the event.

Aid stations are located at approximately miles 9, 17, 26, 31 and the finish. There will be long unsupported sections between stations. The event is intended for experienced distance runners and is not crew or spectator friendly. There is no parking at the start/finish area; drop off and pick up are required.
