Nine Trails 35 Mile Endurance Run
The Santa Barbara Nine Trails event is a point to point endurance run that covers most of the Santa Barbara front country trail system. The main event is the 35 Miler, running from the Jesusita Trailhead to the Romero Canyon Trailhead and back. The course includes steep, rocky and technical trails and packs more than ten thousand feet of vertical gain and descent into roughly 35 miles. Runners should expect long, slow sections with limited support and some inaccessible segments.
Distances
- 35 Miler
- Half 17 Miler
The course is minimally marked with colored ribbon. All participants are required to use GPX digital mapping; a GPX file will be provided before the event. Full aid stations are listed at miles 9, 17, 26, 31 and at the finish, with long sections between stations. The half event is described as a non competitive out and back between Jesusita Trailhead and the Gibraltar Road aid station with a turnaround at that aid station.
Logistics note that the event is not crew or spectator friendly and there is no parking at the start or finish; drop off and pick up are required and transportation is the participant's responsibility. Registration fees are non refundable and non transferable. The run is timed and results will be posted on the organizer's website. The traditional course may be modified as directed by the USFS due to fire or flood damage. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
