Night Train in Farmville, VA
Night Train returns for its ninth year on the High Bridge Trail State Park near Farmville, VA. The event uses an old rail trail that passes fields, small towns and historic sites tied to late Civil War actions. All races begin and end at Camp Paradise and finishers cross the bridge under night conditions with moonlight and fireflies visible along the course.

The course is relatively flat but weather is a major factor; conditions can be extremely hot and sunny. Runners travel several miles between aid stations: the first aid station sits about 5.3 miles out in downtown Farmville; 50K runners continue to Tuggle and Prospect aid stations before returning. The 50K is reported slightly long, closer to 32 miles. Crew access is available in Downtown Farmville, Tuggle and Prospect.
The event is chip timed. Time limits apply: 9.5 hours for the 50K and 5 hours for the half marathon. All runners must carry water; at least 20 ounces is recommended and failure to carry water may result in disqualification. The race is cupless; portable cups are suggested. Finishers receive awards; the top three in each gender receive prizes. Women receive tank tops; men receive T shirts. A most Patriotic runner award is given for each gender. No refunds; deferrals allowed for injury or COVID. Gluten free aid station options are available if noted at registration.
