The course is relatively flat but weather is a major factor and can be extremely hot and sunny. The 50K course measures closer to 32 miles rather than a standard 50K. Aid stations are spaced with the first aid station about 5.3 miles in downtown Farmville; 50K runners proceed to Tuggle and Prospect aid stations with a turnaround past Prospect. Crew access is available at Downtown Farmville, Tuggle, and Prospect.
Runners must carry water; at least 20 ounces is recommended and failure to carry water can lead to disqualification. The event is cupless; portable cups are suggested. The race is chip timed. Participant gear and awards: women receive a tank top, men a T-shirt, all finishers receive awards, and the top three in each gender per race receive prizes. There are no refunds; deferments for injury or COVID are allowed. Shirt deadline is May 15; later registrants receive leftover shirts. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
