Night Owl 9k
Night Owl 9k is a trail race held at Freedom Park in Williamsburg, VA on June 27, 2026. The start and finish are located in the meadow parallel to the Botanical Garden area and the finish was changed to the road adjacent to the Interpretive Center to place the post race activity closer to restrooms.
The course combines single track, fire road and paved trails within the park. The route features rolling hills and some technical sections with roots, twists and turns. Organizers note the course will be measured accurately and that its overall difficulty remains similar despite the modified finish.
Race day logistics include parking around the Interpretive Center and restrooms both on the exterior and inside the center. Packet pickup is race day only. T shirts are not included in registration this year and must be added on; the deadline to guarantee a chosen T shirt size is June 8. All finishers receive medals. The event is part of the Colonial Road Runner Grand Prix and a portion of proceeds will be donated to Nature's Nanny Wildlife Rehab.
Post race activities at the Visitors Center include beer and pizza and wildlife education with owls on site. Walkers are welcome and there is no time limit for finishers; participants planning a late finish are advised to bring personal illumination.
