The route starts in the meadow parallel to the Botanical Garden area and concludes on the road adjacent to the Interpretive Center. Walkers are permitted in the event, and there is no set time limit for completion. However, participants expecting a late finish are advised to bring personal illumination.

Facilities at the site include parking and restrooms located both inside and on the exterior of the Interpretive Center. A post-race gathering is held at the center, which includes pizza and refreshments. During this time, representatives from Nature's Nanny Wildlife Rehab are present with educational materials and live owls.

Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three male and female walkers. Age group awards are also provided across multiple categories ranging from 14 and under to 75 and over. All finishers receive a medal. Event t-shirts are available as an optional add-on during registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
