Night Claw - August 15, 2026
Night Claw is a nighttime trail race organized by Texas Outlaw Running at Dinosaur Valley State Park near Glen Rose, TX. The event offers multiple distance options and timed races that use a 10K loop for several categories. The course starts from a field outside the state park and follows park trails.
Distances available:
- 4 Miler
- 10K
- 10K Ruck
- 4 Hour timed
- 6 Hour timed
- 8 Hour timed
The trails are dirt and rocky single-track with a river crossing. The 10K loop shows about 650 feet of elevation gain. Timed-distance participants (4HR, 6HR, 8HR) run repeated loops; final loop attempts must be started within a specified cutoff window before the race end.
The Claw Challenge is an optional feature. Participants who opt in receive a bib with a tear tag and are given a head start. A designated volunteer dressed as the Claw chases opt-in runners and removes the tear tag if they catch them; finishers with an intact tag are recorded as having outrun the Claw, while torn tags indicate they were caught. Medal add-ons are noted for both outcomes.
Event support includes aid station food and hydration, course marking and volunteer support, finisher medals and awards, photography, and a note that no cups are provided so runners should bring their own water-carrying system. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
