About the race
The Night Claw is a nighttime trail race held near Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose, Texas. The event uses dirt and rocky single-track trails and includes a river crossing. The course is hilly; the 10K loop shows about 650 feet of elevation gain. Historic night temperatures for the event range roughly from 75 to 95 degrees.

An optional Claw Challenge lets participants opt in during registration. Each participating runner receives a bib with a tear tag; a designated volunteer runner called the Claw attempts to take that tag while running the course. If the tag arrives intact at the finish, the runner is recorded as escaped; if the tag is taken, the runner is recorded as clawed. The Claw runs the 10K loop repeatedly and may interact with runners on corresponding loops.
All participants must carry a water system (minimum 16 ounces except for the shortest event) and use a headlamp. Ruck weight rules apply for the 10K Ruck: participants over 150 pounds carry 30 lb, under 150 pounds carry 20 lb. Aid stations provide cold foods, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice and ice; separate water stations offer water and ice. Drop bag transport to aid stations is not provided.
