About the race
Night Claw is a nighttime trail event held August 15, 2026, at a field outside Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose, Texas. The event uses park trails and looped courses that include dirt and rocky single track, river crossings, and marked aid stations.
Distances offered:
- 4M
- 10K
- 10K Ruck
- 4 hour timed race
- 6 hour timed race
- 8 hour timed race
The 10K loop is described as hilly with about 650 feet of elevation gain. Aid and water stations are located on the loops; aid stations provide cold foods, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice, and ice while water stations offer water and ice. Course maps and participant guides are provided for the loops.
Gear and race requirements include a headlamp for all events and a required water carrying system. Ruck entrants must meet weight rules: more than 150 lb requires a 30 lb ruck and less than 150 lb requires a 20 lb ruck; ruck sacks or vests are allowed. Drop bag transport to aid stations is not available and parking is located close to the start finish area. Camping options and an RV park are available a few minutes from the start.
The Claw Challenge is an optional add on. Participants who opt in receive a tear tag bib; a volunteer runner acting as the Claw chases opt in runners and takes tags if they catch them. Finisher medal attachments are awarded for those who beat the Claw and those who are clawed. Awards include finisher medals, a tri blend tee, first place awards for male and female, and a Dead Freakin Last award for the 8 hour event.
