Night Claw : Dinosaur Valley State Park
Night Claw is a nighttime trail race held at Dinosaur Valley State Park near Glen Rose, TX. The event offers multiple distance options and timed races run on marked single track trails that include dirt, rocky sections, and a river crossing. The 10K loop is hilly and shows about 650 feet of elevation gain.
Available distances include:
- 4 Miler
- 10K
- 10K Ruck
- 4 Hour timed race
- 6 Hour timed race
- 8 Hour timed race
For 10K, 4 Hour, 6 Hour, and 8 Hour entrants, the course uses a 10K loop. Four mile runners follow a modified 4M loop. Hour race competitors must begin their final loop within the last 45 minutes before the race cutoff and must complete that loop.
The optional Claw Challenge pairs opted-in participants with a designated volunteer runner called the Claw. Each opted-in participant receives a bib with a tear tag; if the Claw catches a runner, the tag is taken. A retained tag at the finish indicates the participant was not caught. Medal add-ons are awarded for both outcomes.
Event services include aid station food and hydration, a finisher medal, event shirts, course marking and volunteer support, photography, and awards for top finishers by gender. No cups are provided; participants should bring their own water-carrying system. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
