About the race
Camp Classic Trail Run is a trail race held at Camp El Tesoro in North Texas. Proceeds support Camp Fire youth programs that aim to build confidence, leadership, and connection to the outdoors. The route passes through woods, prairies, and creek-side paths on marked trails.
Participants may choose from these distance options:
- 5K one lap around Camp El Tesoro
- 10K two laps of the same loop
- Kids 1K Fun Run for children age 12 or younger
- The Challenge combines the 5K and 10K distances
- Virtual Race join from any location
Course and event details: the 5K and 10K start from the same line, mile markers are posted, and water stations are available at approximately 1.7 miles (5K runners pass once; 10K runners pass twice). The route is signed and hazard indicators are used. Trails do not accommodate strollers. Walkers and runners are welcome.
Timing and results: the race uses chip timing by Race Day Event Services, with results available within 1–2 minutes of finishing and live updates throughout the morning. Awards include overall male and female, masters (age 40 and up), and age-group placements from 14 & under through 65 and over.
Weekend options include a Friday gourmet dinner and climate-controlled cabin lodging. Cabins sleep 12, are accessible, have private restrooms, and include a light breakfast. First aid is provided on site. Free parking is available. Registration fees vary by event and entry period; all fees are non-refundable and fund the Camp Fire Camp Scholarship Fund.
