Night Challenge 4: Glendalough
Night Challenge 4 in Glendalough is a marked night mountain running event in County Wicklow. The event offers two new routes on technical terrain with GPS use permitted and route fully marked.
Distances:
- 8.50 km long course, 455 m climb
- 4.20 km short course
Entry fees are listed as €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries open Monday 19th October 2026 at 21:00 and close Thursday 22nd October 2026 at 18:00. The field limit is 200 places.
Mandatory kit is Level B - Standard and must be carried; items required include a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. Organisers will confirm the final kit to be carried on race day. A torch suitable for running at night is required; a head torch is preferred and a backup torch or spare battery is recommended. Failure to carry required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification and random kit checks may be carried out.
Eligibility notes: runners and walkers who turn 14 in 2026 or older may enter the short course; runners turning 18 in 2026 or older may enter the long course.
Location details: Glendalough Upper Lake Carpark. There is a 5 euro carpark entry fee; carpooling is encouraged. Prizegiving will take place at the upper lake car park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
