Newtown 10K Run

The Newtown 10K is a one-lap road race held in Newtown on Sunday 24th May 2026. The course starts and finishes in the town centre and is run on fully closed roads and pathways. The route features a fast opening and finish and includes running alongside the River Severn. Finishers receive a medal.

Event headquarters is at Open Newtown, Back Lane, Newtown SY16 2NH, a short walk from several town centre car parks. Free parking is provided at Back Lane Car Park with 404 bays.

Race management notes a 90-minute cut-off time; roads will re-open in line with this pace and participants who fall behind it may be asked to withdraw for safety. Organisers aim to minimise disruption for residents, with temporary road closures and signed diversion routes in place. Spectators are asked to remain off the course and to use pavements and riverside paths to watch the race.

Prizes are awarded to the top three female and top three male finishers and to 14 age-group winners (seven female and seven male). The event brings together a range of participants, from nervous first-timers through to competitive runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
