Event overview

The Newtown 10K is a one-lap road race in Newtown, Powys, taking place on Sunday 24 May 2026. The course uses fully closed roads and pathways and runs alongside the River Severn for part of the route. The start and finish are in the town centre at Open Newtown, Back Lane, SY16 2NH. Participants receive a finishers medal.

Logistics, safety and results

The event headquarters and start/finish are a short walk from several town centre car parks. Free parking is provided at Back Lane Car Park with 404 bays. Roads on the route will be closed for safety and will reopen in line with the race pace. The official race cut-off time is 90 minutes; participants who fall behind this pace may be asked to withdraw. Spectators are asked to stay off the course until runners have passed and may watch from pavements and paths alongside the river. Results and photos are published after the event.

Competition and awards

The field includes a range of runners from first-timers to competitive runners. Awards are given to the top three female and top three male finishers, plus 14 age-group winners (seven female and seven male).
