Newtown 10K Run - Newtown, 24 May 2026
The Newtown 10K is a one-lap road race covering 10 km that starts and finishes in the town centre. The course runs on fully closed roads and pathways and includes sections along the River Severn that offer scenic riverside views. The route features a quick opening section and a similarly paced finish.
Event headquarters and the start/finish are at Open Newtown, Back Lane, Newtown SY16 2NH, a short walk from several town-centre car parks. Free parking is available at Back Lane Car Park with 404 bays. Roads on the route will be closed for safety and will re-open in line with the race pace. The race cut off time is 90 minutes; participants who fall behind this pace may be asked to withdraw for safety.
Spectators are asked to follow marshal instructions and remain off the course until runners have passed. Paths alongside the river provide good pavement coverage for viewing. Participants receive a finishers medal on completion. Awards are given to the top three female and top three male finishers as well as 14 age-group winners, split into seven female and seven male categories.
The event brings together a range of participants from nervous first-timers through to competitive runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
