Newtown 10K Run
The Newtown 10K is a town centre road race held on 24 May 2026. The event covers a single lap of approximately 10 km on fully closed roads and pathways, with the start and finish located at Open Newtown, Back Lane, Newtown SY16 2NH. The route runs alongside the River Severn and finishes with a medal for each finisher. Participants range from nervous first timers through to competitive runners.
Race headquarters and the start/finish are a short walk from several town centre car parks. Free parking is available at Back Lane Car Park, which has 404 bays. Roads on the course are closed for safety and marshals are in place; spectators are asked to remain off the course until runners have passed and may watch from pavements alongside the river.
The event uses a race cut off of 90 minutes; roads will re-open in line with this pace and slower runners may be asked to withdraw for safety. Prizes are awarded to the top three female and top three male finishers and to 14 age group winners, seven female and seven male. The charity partner is to be confirmed.
