Event Overview
The Newtown 10k Run is a 10 km road running event scheduled for Sunday, 24 May 2026. It is a single-lap course that starts and finishes in Newtown town centre.
Course and Logistics
The race takes place on fully closed roads and pathways for participant safety. The route offers views alongside the River Severn and is described as fast at the start and finish. The race has a 90-minute time limit; roads will reopen according to this pace, and participants falling behind may be asked to withdraw for safety.
The event headquarters, start, and finish are located at Open Newtown, Back Lane, Newtown, SY16 2NH. This location is a short walk from several town centre car parks. Free parking with 404 bays is available from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Back Lane Car Park.
Participants and Awards
The event attracts a range of participants, from first-timers to competitive runners. Awards are given to the top three female and top three male finishers, as well as to 14 age group winners (7 female, 7 male). All finishers receive a medal.
