ABP Newport Marathon Festival
The ABP Newport Marathon Festival is a multi-race event in Newport, Wales, scheduled for Sunday 18 April 2027. The festival offers several timed road races that start and finish on Newport’s riverfront and use a broadly flat route that the organisers describe as one of the flattest marathon courses in Europe.
Race distances include:
- Marathon
- Half marathon
- 10K
- Mile / Junior races
The marathon and half marathon routes pass city landmarks such as the historic castle, the Victorian Market, the Transporter Bridge, the modern riverfront and the International Sports Village. The longer routes also run across the nearby Gwent Levels, noted for coastal wildlife and medieval villages. The course route was drawn up by a double Olympic marathon runner.
Event weekend activities include a Women’s Running Conference and a Pasta Party on Saturday 17 April. The event is delivered by Run4Wales and lists Associated British Ports as title partner, Minding Gwent as lead charity, and Newport City Council among its supporters.
Race information available from the organisers includes course maps, race results and guidance on travel, parking and accessibility. The organisers report that nearly 70% of finishers have achieved a personal best on this route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
