ABP Newport Marathon Festival
The ABP Newport Marathon Festival is a multi race running event in Newport, Wales. It features a marathon, a half marathon, a 10K and a mile race, plus junior races and weekend activities such as a Women’s Running Conference and a pasta party.
The marathon course is noted for its flat profile and begins and ends on Newport’s riverfront. The route passes several city landmarks, including the historic castle, the Victorian market, the Transporter Bridge, the modern riverfront development and the International Sports Village. Marathon and half marathon routes also run through the nearby Gwent Levels, an area of coastal wildlife and medieval villages.
The course has been included in a list of fastest marathons by a running magazine. Nearly 70% of finishers have recorded a personal best on this route. The event is organised by Run4Wales and supported by partners including Associated British Ports and Newport City Council. Volunteers are used to support race operations and on course services.
