Newbury 10K
The Newbury 10K on Monday 25 May 2026 is the 16th staging of a town based multi terrain race held under race licence number 30262. The event includes two shorter fun runs for under 15s and both start and finish in the centre of the market town.
The main course features a gentle climb for the first 3 km, followed by a short descent and then mainly flat running. Around 7 km of the route is on road; the remainder is on footpaths and along the Kennet and Avon Canal tow path that passes through the town centre. Recent changes have removed some narrow and uneven sections and the route is expected to be unchanged from the previous year.
Junior fun runs take place on closed roads in the town centre, places are strictly limited and all fun run finishers receive a medal. The junior courses are unchanged from previous years.
All profits from the 2026 races will be split between Newbury AC and the charity Swings & Smiles. Swings & Smiles is based in Thatcham and supports disabled children and their families across Berkshire; it has more than 1,500 families registered and offers respite care, play sessions, youth clubs, sibling support and outreach.
Notable rules and restrictions include an age minimum of 15 for the 10 km race, a 100 minute course cut off after which support is withdrawn, prohibition of headphones, and that some road sections remain open to traffic.
