Newbury 10 km
The Newbury 10 km is scheduled for Monday 25 May 2026 and will be the 16th running of this town based multi terrain event. The race starts and finishes in the centre of the market town and uses a mixture of roads, footpaths and the Kennet and Avon Canal tow path.
The course features a gentle climb for the first 3 km, a short descent, and then largely flat running. About 7 km of the route is on road with the remainder on footpaths and tow path. Recent changes have removed some narrow and uneven sections and the route is expected to be unchanged from the previous year. Entrants should be prepared for some uneven surfaces in places and for sections that are not closed to traffic.
Distances:
- 10 km multi terrain race for ages 15 and over
- Pre 10 km run for ages 5 to 10, approx 0.9 km
- Pre 10 km run for ages 11 to 14, approx 1.5 km
The two junior races take place on closed town centre roads, places are strictly limited and all fun run finishers receive a medal. The organisers operate under a UK Athletics licence 30262 and specify that headphones are not permitted, dogs are not allowed, and the 10 km course is not suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs. The organisers state that 100 percent of profits from the 2026 races will be split between Newbury Athletic Club and Swings and Smiles, a local charity supporting disabled children and their families.
