Event overview

The Newark Mile 4k is an annual community road race and walk organized in partnership with Newark Days and the CXC4L Alumni Association. The event uses the traditional parade route and is staged at the Newark Community Center, 35501 Cedar Blvd., Newark, CA. The main distance is 4k (2.5 mile) and the race is chip timed. A short youth race, the Newark Mile 4kids, is also held near the check-in area; that race is approximately 50 meters and has no fee.

Race, course and logistics

The start and finish are located at Chapman and Cedar in front of the Newark Community Center. The course follows Cedar Blvd and Newark Blvd with several left turns and U-turns before returning to Cedar Blvd for the finish. Early packet pick-up is offered at the Newark Community Center on a Sunday before the event; otherwise bib and timing-chip pick-up is available at the check-in table on race day. Parking in Newark Days lots is not available due to street closures; participants and spectators are advised to use nearby residential streets or walk or bike if local. Portable restrooms are provided near the community center.
