The New Year's Kids' Mile & Relays is an annual fundraising event presented by Austin Youth Fitness that benefits the David Phillips Foundation Title‑I after‑school programs. It is scheduled for Saturday, January 9, 2027 at Pease Park in Austin, Texas.
The event program includes age‑group races, short runs for very young children, and team relays:
- 1 Mile: elementary grade level heats
- 400 m: Pre‑K run
- 25 m: Toddler Trot
- 4x400 Relay: grade level relay heats
- 5K Relay: teams of three, each running one mile
- Memorial Mile Walk
Packet pick-up is handled on race day and same-day registration is available. The event aims to raise funds toward a stated $50,000 fundraising goal and offers the option for participants to set up personal fundraisers with a chance to win a prize. Entry fees are waived for children and families in DPF after‑school programs and for participants for whom cost is a barrier. Parking at Pease Park is limited; additional parking is available at House Park and the ACC parking garage with a short walk along Shoal Creek Trail under Lamar. The event runs rain or shine unless there is thunder, lightning, or other severe weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
