New Year's Kids' Mile & Relays - Austin
The New Year’s Kids' Mile & Relays is a fundraising event on Saturday, January 9, 2027, at Pease Park in Austin, Texas. The event is presented by Austin Youth Fitness and benefits the David Phillips Foundation's Title-I after-school programs; the organizers list a $50,000 fundraising goal.
The event program features age-group running events and relays, including:
- 1 Mile: Elementary grade-level heats
- 400 m: Pre-K run
- 25 m: Toddler Trot
- 4x400 Relay: Elementary grade-level heats
- 5K Relay: Teams of three, each member runs one mile
The day also includes the 8th annual Memorial Mile Walk. Packet pick-up is available on race day and same-day registration is offered. The event proceeds in typical weather conditions and will be postponed only for thunder, lightning, or other severe weather.
Parking at Pease Park is limited; additional parking is available at House Park and the ACC Parking Garage, reachable by a short walk along the Shoal Creek Trail under Lamar. Entry fees are waived for children and families in David Phillips Foundation after-school programs and for others for whom cost would be a barrier. Sponsorships and purchases from the foundation apparel store support the after-school programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
