New Year's Kids' Mile & Relays - Austin
The New Year’s Kids' Mile & Relays takes place at Pease Park in Austin, Texas on Saturday January 9, 2027. The event is an annual fundraising race presented by Austin Youth Fitness that benefits the David Phillips Foundation and its Title I after-school programs.
The event program includes age-group races, short runs for younger children, relays, and a memorial walk. Distances and formats include:
- 1 Mile elementary grade-level heats
- 400 m pre-K run
- 25 m toddler trot
- 4x400 relay for elementary age groups
- 5K relay teams of three, one mile per runner, open to adults and kids
- 8th Annual Memorial Mile Walk
Race operations note that packet pick-up is available on race day and same-day registration is offered. The event is scheduled to proceed in rain or shine except in cases of thunder, lightning, or severe weather. Parking at Pease Park is limited; additional parking is available at House Park and the ACC parking garage with a short walk along Shoal Creek Trail. The event includes fundraising opportunities and an apparel store whose purchases support the beneficiary programs.
