New Momentum - The Handoff
New Momentum - The Handoff is a team relay event held in San Antonio, Texas. Participants compete in teams of two across a total distance of 6 miles. The race is structured as an unrouted relay, meaning there is no fixed course provided by the organizers. Instead, teams must navigate between designated checkpoints using their own chosen paths. This format requires teams to incorporate strategy and route planning into their performance.
The event features three registration categories:
- Men's division
- Women's division
- Co-ed division
Each participant receives a non-chipped race bib upon registration. The first-place team in each of the three categories is awarded a cash prize. The race transition occurs at a specific location known as The Handoff checkpoint.
The event is hosted at 203 Eighth St. and includes a post-race gathering. This area features music, coffee, and food from local vendors. The gathering is designed to bring together the local community of athletes and families. Registration for the event closes several weeks before the race date.
