New Milford 8 Mile Road Race and 5K Run/Walk
The New Milford Parks and Recreation Department organizes an annual set of road races held on July 25th, featuring an 8-mile event and a 5K run/walk. The 8-mile race is in its 58th year and the 5K is in its 23rd year. The 8-mile event is noted as the third oldest race in the state. Both courses finish on the south side of the Town Green.
The courses run through rural New Milford and include hilly terrain with Canterbury Hill on the 8-mile route. Water stops are available along both routes. A post-race ceremony is held at the bandstand on the Town Green. Monetary awards are offered and will be mailed to the address on file. Event t-shirts are guaranteed for the first 300 registered runners.
Registration fees are $30 through July 19 and $40 beginning July 20. Registration is available online and in person at New Milford Parks & Recreation, 2 Pickett District Road. Race day registration is available until 8:10 a.m. on July 25. Race packets information is to be announced.
A separate Kids Run the Green offers a quarter mile race for ages 8 and under. The kids event has a $5 fee, includes an event t-shirt and participation award, and is limited to 50 participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
