EDRRC Beer Mile
The Eastern Dutchess Road Runners Club hosts a Beer Mile in Pawling, NY on Sunday, November 22, 2026. The event is free and held at 2 Lakeside Drive, Pawling, NY 12564. Registration closes on November 21; there are no race day sign-ups.
Each competitor must consume four bottles or cans and run a total of one mile. The sequence is to drink a beer in the designated transition area, run 400 meters, then repeat until the mile is complete. Beverages must be bottled or canned in a standard 355 mL (12 oz) size, opened only with the tab, and may not be tampered with or altered. Wide-mouth or specialized containers that allow faster pouring are not permitted.
Alcohol rules vary by category: Traditional Beer Mile and Cider Mile require 5% ABV or more; Light Beer Mile is for beers under 5% ABV; NA Beer Mile is for nonalcoholic beer; Soda Mile is for designated drivers and participants with a minimum age of 18. Only the four beers intended for consumption may be brought onto town property; all alcohol must be checked and placed in designated areas on arrival.
If a competitor vomits before finishing, they must complete one penalty lap after their fourth lap; multiple vomit incidents still require only one penalty lap. Participants must bring a completed waiver and designated drivers must remain alcohol free and sign the waiver. All trash and cans must be carried out by participants.
