New Canaan Santa Run - Waveny Park, New Canaan, CT
The 13th Annual New Canaan Santa Run is a community holiday event held at Waveny Park with start and finish at the historic Castle. The event program includes a computer timed 5K open to runners and walkers, a one mile walk that is not timed, and a free kids Santa Dash for children age eight and under. Santa is on site to run with the kids and to be available for family photos.
Distances
- 5K - computer timed; awards eligible.
- 1 Mile - walk not timed; not eligible for awards.
- 200 Yards - kids dash for ages eight and under; parents may accompany.
The 5K course is accurately measured and well marked with signs, cones, flour arrows, and volunteers, and this year it will be run in the opposite direction while remaining on the same paths and driveways. Course routing may change for safety or trail conditions. Awards are given to the overall male and female 5K champions and to the top male and female in each age group: 9 and under, 10-13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus.
Proceeds support a food packing effort that will underwrite a $30,000 cost and help assemble 100,000 meals in March 2027 with the Feed My Starving Children program. The first 200 registrants receive long sleeve shirts while supplies last. Parking is available nearby. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
