Neptune’s 8K Race

Neptune’s 8K Race is a long-standing athletic event held at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. The race features a fast and flat course that follows Atlantic Avenue, providing runners with ocean views throughout the route. The event is designed to accommodate various participants, including a wheelchair division and a dedicated fun run for children.

Available distances for the event include:

• 8 km - A flat course along the oceanfront for runners and wheelchair participants.
• 1 km - The Kids Crab Crawler fun run specifically for children ages 10 and under.

The course begins and ends at 31st Street and Atlantic Avenue. Participants in the 8 km race receive a festival t-shirt, a finisher medal, and course entertainment. Registration also includes a ticket to Neptune’s International Sandsculpting Championship.

A post-race party is held in 31st Street Park immediately following the event. This celebration includes a DJ, pizza, and various beverages. A portion of the proceeds from the race supports the Virginia Beach Lifeguard Association, a local organization focused on ocean safety education and supporting lifesavers.
