Neptune’s 8K Race
Neptune’s 8K Race is an oceanfront running event at Virginia Beach that follows a course along Atlantic Avenue and Rudee Loop. The course is described as fast and flat and offers ocean views. The route begins near Neptune’s Park at 31st Street, continues north to 37th Street, then runs south around Rudee Loop before returning north to finish near 30th Street. A post-race gathering is held in Neptune’s Park at 31st Street.
The event includes two distances:
- 8K
- 1K (Kids Crab Crawler)
Registered participants receive a Neptune Festival T-shirt, a Neptune’s 8K finisher medal, course entertainment, and one ticket to the Neptune’s International Sandsculpting Championship. The post-race party in 31st Street Park includes pizza, beer, hard seltzer, non-alcoholic beverages, and a DJ. Awards for top finishers are announced for the top three male, top three female, and overall places; other awards are mailed upon certification.
Packet pickup is scheduled at Smartmouth Pilot House (313 32nd Street) the day before the race and at 31st Street Park on race morning. ID checks are required to receive a wristband for alcohol at packet pickup locations and at the post-race party. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
