Neptune’s 8K Race - Virginia Beach Oceanfront
Neptune’s 8K Race is an annual road race held as part of the Neptune Festival. The event is presented as the 48th edition and takes place along the Virginia Beach Oceanfront with a start/finish at 31st Street and Atlantic Avenue. The course is described as fast and flat and offers ocean views.
Race offerings and extras include a Neptune Festival T-shirt, a Neptune’s 8K Race finisher medal, course entertainment, one ticket to the International Sandsculpting Championship, and a post race party in 31st Street Park featuring Chicho’s Pizza, beer, hard cider, non-alcoholic beverages, and a DJ.
A portion of proceeds benefits the Virginia Beach Lifeguard Association, a local 501(c)(3) chapter that promotes ocean and beach safety and supports lifeguard activities and competitions.
There is also a Kid’s Crab Crawler, a 1k fun run for children 10 and under; Crab Crawlers receive a medal, race bib, and mini swag bag. Packet pickup occurs the day before at Smartmouth Pilot House (313 32nd Street) from 3:00pm to 8:00pm and on race morning at 31st Street Park from 6:30am to 7:30am.
