The Tyrone Race Series organizes a community running event centered at Neptune Fire Company Number 1, located at 1701 Lincoln Ave, Tyrone, PA 16686. The event features a standard 5K distance and a short sprint for children, with separate divisions for firefighters, first responders, students, walkers, and children 9 and under.
The volunteer Neptune Fire Company traces its origins to 1871 and has served the community for more than 150 years. In 2024 the company reported 25 members responding to over 375 calls per year. Donations from the event will support operational funds and equipment upgrades; in the event of a race cancellation, proceeds will be given to Neptune Fire Company.
Registration periods and fees vary by division. Early-registration fees differ from day-of fees, and registrations received by June 1 are guaranteed a short sleeve shirt. Paper registrations can be mailed or dropped off at the fire station. Check-in and day-of registration occur at Neptune Fire Company Number 1 on the day of the event. The day includes a small raffle, food trucks, a children’s sprint, and an awards and closing segment.
