Nelson County Up and Running 5K
The Nelson County Up and Running 5K takes place on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Thomas Nelson High School in Bardstown, Kentucky. The race distance is 3.1 miles (5K). The 2026 course is a light trail that uses the school's cross country course; strollers are not advised.
Entry to the event is free. Donations are encouraged to support the Nelson County Schools UP Foundation and the Imagination Library. Suggested donation amounts listed for the event are $25 to fund one child for a year, $50 to fund two children for a year, and $100 to fund four children for a year. Commemorative race tees are available for $15; adult sizes are 2XL, XL, L, M, S and child sizes are XS, S, M, L. The deadline to order shirts is October 2, 2026.
Awards will be given to the top male and top female finishers in each age group: 12 and under, 13 to 18, 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 and older. The event benefits local literacy and education initiatives in Nelson County. Participants may walk or run and a superhero dress up theme is part of the event.
