Light at the End of the Tunnel Marathon and Half - June 7, 2026
This event stages a marathon and a half marathon on a rail trail between Snoqualmie Pass and North Bend, Washington. The 2026 edition follows an alternate, fully permitted route due to storm damage; the route retains a steady downhill grade and scenic mountain surroundings. The course features approximately 1,000 feet of net elevation drop and is USATF certified; the marathon remains a Boston qualifier. The original course has helped more than 42% of participants earn a Boston qualifying time.
The surface is smooth packed gravel suitable for road or light trail shoes. Runners pass through the historic Snoqualmie Tunnel; headlamps are required for tunnel passage. Aid stations are placed every 2 to 3 miles and provide water, electrolytes, basic first aid, and Honey Stinger gels at selected locations.
Registration opens February 13, 2026 and closes June 1, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT. Registration includes professional chip timing, a custom race bib, a finisher shirt and medal, post race food and festivities, and shuttle transportation back to Hyak Sno-Park. After the finish at Garcia Trailhead, participants walk about one mile down Forest Service Road 9020 to shuttle buses that return runners to Hyak for post race provisions.
