Light at the End of the Tunnel Marathon

The Light at the End of the Tunnel Marathon takes place in Washington, starting from Snoqualmie Pass and finishing in North Bend. For 2026, the event will follow an alternate, fully permitted route due to severe storm damage on the traditional course.

The marathon and half marathon are described as fast, scenic races. The course features approximately 1,000 feet of net elevation drop and is run on a smooth, packed gravel surface. The marathon is a USATF-certified Boston Qualifier. In the past, the original course was noted for helping participants earn a Boston Marathon qualification. Runners will go through the historic Snoqualmie Tunnel, which requires a headlamp.

Aid stations are located every 2–3 miles, providing water, electrolytes, first aid, and Honey Stinger gels at select points. After finishing at the Garcia Trailhead, participants walk one mile to shuttle buses for transportation back to the Hyak Sno-Park for post-race festivities.

Registration includes professional chip timing, a custom race bib, a finisher’s shirt and medal, and post-race food. The event organizer also hosts two other races in the series on different dates. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
