NCPD Police Officer Memorial 5K
The NCPD Police Officer Memorial 5K is an annual running event held at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, New York. The race originated in 1993, organized by the Nassau Police Running Club to honor the memory of local officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The event serves as a tribute to these individuals and their families, ensuring their sacrifices are recognized by the community.
Participants can choose from the following event distances:
- 3.1 Miles (5K)
- 1K Kids Fun Run
The 3.1 Miles race features professional timing services, including chip timing with start line mats and mile markers equipped with split clocks. A professional finish line setup includes an announcer to greet participants. Children participating in the 1K Fun Run also receive bib numbers with timing chips and youth t-shirts, and their names are announced as they cross the finish line.
The start and finish lines for the races are located at the Field House within Eisenhower Park on Hempstead Turnpike. Proceeds from the event are utilized to fund scholarships in the names of fallen officers. These scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors who are active in their school running clubs and pursuing secondary education.
