NAV4 LiAD Recce - Ambleside to Cartmel
The NAV4 Lakes in A Day Recce - Ambleside to Cartmel is a guided reconnaissance session designed for participants of the Lakes in A Day event or those completing the Half distance. Organized by the NAV4 team on behalf of Durty Events, this session covers a specific portion of the full race route.
The route spans approximately 22 miles and involves 2000 feet of ascent. This section, known as Section Three, constitutes the lower and flatter second half of the main event course. The terrain primarily consists of good trails and lanes, with very little rough or wet ground. While the navigation is considered straightforward, the recce provides an opportunity to familiarize runners with the path, which is often traversed in the dark during the actual race.
Participants receive guidance from experienced tutors regarding several technical aspects of the event, including:
- Suitable clothing and gear
- Footwear choices
- Nutritional and hydration strategies
- Navigation and route advice
- Event strategy and training methods
The day includes pre-arranged transport from the designated finish point to the starting location at the beginning of the day. Participation is limited to 15 people to ensure a focused learning environment. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
