NAV4 Lakes Mountain 40
NAV4 Lakes Mountain 40 is the 13th running of a long mountain route in the Lake District that visits the summits of Loadpot, High Street, Helvellyn and Place Fell. The course follows Lakeland ridgelines, trails and valleys and is laid out as a figure of eight with multiple checkpoints.
The route distances are:
- 40 miles, approximately 2500 m total ascent
- 27 miles, short route
The event starts and finishes at Askham Community Centre. Checkpoints listed on the route include Loadpot, High Street, Angle Tarn, Patterdale, Grisedale Tarn, Helvellyn, Patterdale again, Place Fell and Martindale. The route is described as a spring variant of the Tour de Helvellyn and features mountain trails and ridge sections.
Entry details in the source include an open entry period from 23 October 2025 to 13 April 2026, an entry fee of £55.00, and a limit of 50 starters with the entry system allowing up to 55 to allow for no shows. Entry is restricted to competent mountain runners.
Full bad weather mountain running kit is required; participants are advised to carry waterproofs, warm layers, head torch, map, compass, food and drink, survival bag and whistle.
