NAV4 Lakes Mountain 40

NAV4 Lakes Mountain 40 is a spring mountain running event in the Lake District, scheduled for 18 April 2026 and organised by NAV4. The start and finish are at Askham Community Centre, located on the edge of the National Park close to Penrith.

The event is centred on a long figure of eight route that visits high fells and valleys. Checkpoints include Loadpot, High Street, Angle Tarn, Patterdale, Grisedale Tarn, Helvellyn, Place Fell and Martindale. A shorter option follows a reduced course of 27 miles.

Entry is limited to competent mountain runners and capped at 100 starters (the entry system accepts up to 110 to allow for non-starters). The published entry fee is £55 and entries open from 23 October 2025 and close on 13 April 2026. Campervans are permitted on the Friday before the event for a £10 overnight fee.

Participants must carry full bad weather mountain running kit. Typical required items include waterproofs, thermal layers, spare warm clothing, hat and gloves, head torch, map and compass, food and drink, survival bag and whistle.
