9th Annual Nashville, TN Ostomy 5K
The 9th Annual Nashville, TN Run for Resilience Ostomy 5K takes place at Shelby Bottoms to celebrate World Ostomy Day. This event supports the United Ostomy Associations of America, Inc (UOAA), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals living with an ostomy or continent diversion. Participants can choose from different registration categories including general individual entries and specific categories for ostomates.
The event features the following distances:
- 5 km Timed Run
- 1 Mile Children's Fun Run
The race is held at Shelby Bottoms, a large urban park covering over 336 acres along the Cumberland River. The park is located approximately three miles east of downtown Nashville and features various amenities such as playgrounds, a dog park, and a community center. The race course is professionally timed by Bald Eagle Multi Sport events.
Registration includes a unisex t-shirt, a timed bib, and a "swag" bag containing promotional items and educational materials. A unique aspect of this event is the inclusion of an optional ostomy pouch in the race bags; non-ostomate participants are encouraged to wear one during the run to increase awareness. There is ample free parking available on-site for up to 1,000 vehicles. Prizes are awarded to top male and female finishers overall, in age groups, and in ostomate-specific categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
