Urban Runoff 5K : Nashville
The Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Division of Forestry and the Tennessee Stormwater Association present the 14th annual chip-timed Urban Runoff 5 km in Shelby Bottoms Park and Greenway in Nashville on August 1, 2026. The course passes several green stormwater management installations and includes educational signage about runoff and pollution.
A free Water Quality Festival runs alongside the event with kids’ activities, hands-on education, and informational booths. The festival will also host a Nashville Metro table offering a medication drop-off. Public education is integrated along the course as “education on the run.”
Open to runners, walkers, strollers, families and dogs, the event awards prizes to the top three male and female finishers in overall and multiple age categories, including youth and senior divisions. A portion of proceeds funds a Watershed Quality Award: a $1,000 prize for local non-governmental organizations proposing implementation projects that reduce pollutant runoff. NGOs may apply without requiring tax-exempt status and must submit an implementation certification.
Registration opens April 1. The entry fee is $40 and includes a t-shirt, swag bag and participation medal. The race is held rain or shine. On-site registration accepts credit cards only; no cash. Volunteers receive a complimentary t-shirt and snacks. Proceeds benefit the Tennessee Stormwater Association. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
