Nashville Urban Runoff 5K
The Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Division of Forestry and the Tennessee Stormwater Association present the 14th annual chip-timed 5K Urban Runoff event on August 1, 2026, at Shelby Bottoms Park and Greenway, 1900 Davidson St., Nashville. The race is held rain or shine and is organized to showcase park settings and green stormwater management practices along the course.
A free Water Quality Family Fest runs alongside the race and provides hands-on education, kids activities, and informational displays about runoff, pollution prevention, and green infrastructure. The event includes educational signage along the course to highlight stormwater topics.
Registration information notes a fee of $40, which includes a t-shirt, a swag bag, and a participation medal. Packet pick up is available prior to the event and on race day. On-site registration is possible via phone/QR with credit card payment only.
Participants welcome include runners, walkers, strollers, families, and dogs; strollers and dogs start after the runners and walkers. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers overall and across multiple age divisions, and an awards ceremony follows the race.
A Watershed Quality Contest awards a $2,000 stewardship grant to an eligible non-governmental organization for implementation projects that reduce pollutant runoff, such as rain gardens, tree plantings, downspout disconnection, or rain barrels. Volunteers are requested for race and festival support and receive a t-shirt and snacks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
