Nashville Urban Runoff 5K
The Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry and the Tennessee Stormwater Association present the 15th Annual chip timed Urban Runoff 5 km and Water Quality Festival in Nashville on July 31, 2027. The event is held at Shelby Bottoms Park and Greenway, 1900 Davidson St, and the course passes several green stormwater management practices to highlight on-site water quality features.
A free Water Quality Festival runs alongside the run and includes kids' activities, hands-on education, entertainment, and environmental information aimed at public outreach about runoff and clean water. Educational signage about water, runoff, and pollution will appear along the course and at festival stations.
All runners, walkers, strollers, families and dogs are welcome. Strollers are permitted but start after the runners and walkers; dogs are allowed on the course after those groups have started and participants are asked to carry waste bags. The race is chip timed and will be held rain or shine.
Registration carries a $40 fee and includes a t-shirt, a swag bag, and a participation medal. On-site registration is available by phone via QR code with credit card payment only. There are options for early packet pickup near Shelby Park and for race day pickup. No refunds are issued, but entries may be transferred.
A Watershed Quality Contest awards $2,000 to a local NGO for implementation of stormwater best management practices; NGOs may apply and are not required to be tax exempt. Prizes are given to the top three male and female finishers across age groups from Under 10 to 77 plus. Volunteers are sought and receive a free t-shirt and snacks.
