20th Annual East Nashville Tomato 5K
The East Nashville Tomato 5K is a community athletic event held at East Park in Nashville, Tennessee. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the race, which serves as the traditional opening event for the local Tomato Art Fest. The competition features a certified course and uses chip timing to record participant results.
The event offers two distinct distances:
- 5K road race
- 1K Kids Fun Run
The race route is open to both runners and walkers. The course is stroller-friendly and allows participants to bring pets. Organizers encourage participants to wear tomato-themed costumes during the race.
Each participant receives a race t-shirt and a finisher medal. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers. Specific categories are also recognized for Masters (40+), Grand Masters (50+), Senior Grand Masters (60+), and Senior Grand Masters (70+) participants.
The 5K event has a participation limit of 2,000 runners. Proceeds from the race support the Margaret Maddox Family YMCA and its community programs. Packet pickup is available the day before the race at the YMCA or on the morning of the event at East Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
