Napa Valley Endurance Run
The Napa Valley Endurance Run is a trail event in Calistoga, California, with courses that enter Robert Louis Stevenson State Park and reach Mount St. Helena. The event offers the following distances:
- 50K
- 35K
- Half Marathon
- 10K
The start and finish area is on the Great Lawn at the Calistoga Fairgrounds. The 35K, half marathon and 10K courses use Logvy Park and the Oat Hill Mine Trailhead for their trail approaches.
Course, aid and race logistics
All courses are on trail surfaces - single track and fire road - and include steep, rocky, and technical sections on the Oat Hill Mine Trail, the Palisades Trail, Table Rock, and the Mount St. Helena Trail. Net elevation gain/loss is listed as about 7,250 feet for the 50K, 5,250 feet for the 35K, and 4,250 feet for the half marathon. The 10K is an out-and-back on Oat Hill Mine Trail.
Aid and support: 50K runners visit aid stations six times (at approximately 6.5, 10.5, 14, 17, 20.6, and 25 miles). The 35K has aid at about 6.5, 10.5, and 15 miles. The half marathon has stations at mile 1, the Palisades turnaround, and mile 12; mile 1 and 12 are water and gels only. Due to long stretches between stations, runners are advised to carry up to 40 ounces of water. Drop bags are delivered to the Highway 29 lot and can be accessed on course. 50K runners who do not reach the Highway 29 aid station by 11:45 will be moved to the 35K and will not be eligible for awards; a hard cutoff at Highway 29 on the return is also in place. Finishers receive a medal and shirt; top three finishers by gender earn awards, with age-group awards offered where fields exceed 50 entrants. The 50K, 35K, and half marathon are UTMB Index races.
