Event Overview
The NAMI Sauk Area 5K is an annual fundraiser running event scheduled for July 11, 2026. It takes place at Hoover Park in Sterling, Illinois. The event offers two participation options: an in-person 5K Run/Walk and a Virtual Run/Walk.
Race Details & Awards
Participants can register as individuals or in teams. Teams of four adults receive a per-person discount. The fastest three teams win trophies. Awards are given to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three males and females in numerous age groups, from 9 & under to 90 & over. A special cash prize is offered for breaking the current course records (male: 16:38.95, female: 20:37.08).
Event Logistics
Bib and swag pickup is available the day before the race at Sinnissippi Park (First Shelter) in Sterling and on race morning at the Red Barn in Hoover Park. A bag check service is provided at the Red Barn. Strollers are allowed for walkers, but pets are not permitted on the race course. A boxed lunch and water are provided to all participants. The event has a weather plan, directing participants to seek shelter in park pavilions or the Red Barn if needed.
