Naked Bavarian at Blue Marsh Lake
The Naked Bavarian is a back-to-basics trail running event held on March 6, 2027, at the Day Use Area, Lake View Pavilion, Blue Marsh Lake in Leesport, PA. The event offers two distances with modest entry fees and traditional tear-off bib timing. Racers must complete the distance they registered for; mid-race distance drops are not allowed.
Distances
- 20 Miler, listed entry fee $39
- 40 Miler, listed entry fee $49
The course follows the north-side trails of Blue Marsh Lake in a lollipop layout: 6.5 miles out, a 7-mile loop, and 6.5 miles back. The 40 Miler is two loops with drop bag access at mile 20. Surface mix is approximately 80% single track and 20% gravel road. Elevation gain is about 2000 ft for the 20 mile and 4000 ft for the 40 mile.
Aid stations are positioned approximately every 3 miles and provide water, Gatorade, and a variety of snacks and carbohydrates. The March date can bring snow, ice, or mud, which may increase technical difficulty on otherwise runnable trails with occasional rocks and roots.
Entry policies note a refund option up to 30 days before the race minus a $5 fee; entries are final within 30 days of race day. Bib transfers are permitted up to one week before the event with race director approval. All finishers receive a German style memento and awards are given for Top 3 Overall and Top 3 in age groups 39 and under, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 plus.
