17th Annual Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon & Coastal 5K
The Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon and Coastal 5K take place in South Carolina, featuring courses that utilize the scenic coastline and city streets. The event includes two primary distances and virtual participation options:
- 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon)
- 3.1 Miles (Coastal 5K)
- 13.1 Miles (Virtual Option)
- 3.1 Miles (Virtual Option)
The route for the half marathon includes over 5.5 miles of oceanfront running. Both the half marathon and the 5K begin at 8th Avenue North and conclude on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk with views of the ocean. The half marathon course is described as flat and fast, with a strictly enforced time limit of 3 hours and 20 minutes (a 15:15 pace). Participants in the half marathon must be at least 12 years of age.
Regulations for the event state that animals, strollers, baby joggers, skateboards, and other wheeled devices are prohibited and will lead to disqualification. Exceptions are made for service animals and mobility aids as recognized by the Americans with Disabilities Act. These participants are required to notify staff during bib pickup and start at the rear of the field.
Registered participants receive a participant medal, a long-sleeve tech shirt, and a cinch bag. Post-race refreshments at the finish line include water, Gatorade, and snacks. An additional celebration is held at Grand Strand Brewing Company featuring pizza, beverages, and smoothies. The half marathon also features a cash prize structure for top male and female finishers, masters, grand masters, and the fastest local residents from Horry or Georgetown counties.
