MVRRC Shoe4Africa 5K Championship and Kids Championship Races
This event is a multi-distance running competition held September 12 to 14, 2026 at Lake Perris State Recreation Area Dam Area in Perris, California. It is presented by the Moreno Valley Road Runners Club and Shoe4Africa and includes championship races for youth and adults on a USATF certified course with professional live chip timing.
Course and race features include a start and finish at the dam area, a flat course closed to vehicle traffic, scenic lake views, finisher medals for all participants, and official event shirts for the first 50 registered participants. Packet pick-up and race day registration are available. Lake Perris charges a park entrance fee of $20 per vehicle and dam area parking is limited, with overflow parking approximately a 0.5 mile walk to the start.
Distances and entry fees:
- 50 meters toddler dash ages 3 and under : FREE
- 200 meters ages 4–5 : $5
- 300 meters ages 6–7 : $5
- 1 mile ages 8–12 Championship Mile : $5
- 5K Shoe4Africa Championship Race : $20
Awards include overall male and female cash prizes of $150, $75, and $50 for first through third, age group awards for top three male and female finishers in listed age brackets, and a $50 Championship Mile bonus for ages 8–12 who run 6:00 or faster. Overall cash prize winners are not eligible for age group awards. Accepted payment methods on race day include cash, Venmo, Cash App, and Zelle.
