MVRRC Shoe4Africa 5K Championship & Kids 1-mile Championship
The event is scheduled for September 12-14, 2026 at Lake Perris State Recreation Area in Perris, California. Races take place around the Lake Perris Dam area and use a course that starts and finishes at the dam.
Distances
- 1-Mile Kids Championship for ages 12 and under
- 5K Championship open to all
The course is flat, long, and closed to traffic. Runners follow a route along the dam and pass by the lake. The event notes cooler morning conditions at the lakeside setting.
Awards and prizes include separate awards for the top three boys and top three girls in the kids 1-mile, plus a $50 cash prize for any child who runs the mile in 6 minutes or under. The 5K awards cash prizes to the top three males and top three females with amounts of $150, $75, and $50 respectively. Medals are provided to all participants and the first 50 sign-ups receive a t-shirt.
Entry fees are listed as $5 for the kids 1-mile and $20 for the 5K. A vehicle park entrance fee of $20 applies at Lake Perris State Recreation Area. Race day payments accepted include cash, Venmo, Cash App, and Zelle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
