MVRRC Shoe4Africa 5K Championship and Kids Championship Races
The Moreno Valley Road Runners Club and Shoe4Africa present a championship race day at Lake Perris State Recreation Area, Dam Area, on September 12, 2026. The event includes adult and youth championship races on a USATF certified, flat course that starts and finishes at the dam area and is closed to vehicle traffic. The course runs along Lake Perris and offers lake views and a traffic free route.
Features include professional live chip timing and a finisher medal for all participants. The first 50 registered participants receive an official event T‑shirt. A park entrance fee of $20 per vehicle applies.
Distances
- 5K Championship
- 50 meters Toddler Dash
- 200 meters (ages 4–5)
- 300 meters (ages 6–7)
- 1 Mile Championship (ages 8–12)
Awards and fees: overall male and female 5K cash prizes are $150 for 1st, $75 for 2nd, and $50 for 3rd. Age group awards go to the top three male and female finishers in established age brackets. Any runner in the Ages 8–12 Championship Mile who runs 6:00 or faster receives a $50 bonus. Entry fees are listed for each race category; race day registration is available and cash is accepted.
Logistics: Dam area parking is limited; overflow parking may require an approximately 0.5 mile walk to the start area. Park rangers may issue citations or arrange towing for unauthorized parking. Participants must complete the full course to be eligible for awards and cash prizes. Overall winners are not eligible for age group awards. Overall awards use gun time; age group awards use chip time. Race Director decisions are final. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
