MVRRC Shoe4Africa 5K Championship & Kids 1-mile Championship
The MVRRC Shoe4Africa event is held at the Lake Perris State Recreation Area in Perris, California. The race supports philanthropic efforts in Eastern Africa, including the construction of hospitals and schools. This competition features a flat course located along the Lake Perris Dam, providing a route that is entirely closed to vehicle traffic.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5K Championship Race
- 1 Mile Kids Championship Race
The 5K is open to all levels, including walkers and competitive runners. The 1 Mile distance is specifically designated as a kids championship for those aged 12 and under. The event uses a historic course known for its scenery and potential for fast times.
Cash prizes are available for the top three male and female finishers in the 5K race. In the 1 Mile kids race, awards are presented to the top three boys and girls. Additionally, a cash prize is offered to any participant in the kids race who completes the mile in under six minutes. All participants receive a medal upon completion, and a t-shirt is provided to the first 50 individuals who sign up.
