Muskegon Lake Celebration Fun Run
The Muskegon Lake Celebration Fun Run is a community event focused on the environmental restoration and successful delisting of Muskegon Lake. Participants follow a course along the Muskegon Lake bike path, offering views of the local waterfront. The event is organized with the assistance of Run Muskegon and emphasizes the outdoor recreation opportunities created by several decades of environmental work on the lake.
The event features a single distance:
- 1 Mile running race
Participants can choose to walk, jog, or run the distance. The route highlights the transformed landscape and fresh air of the lakeshore. Along the path, new water-themed storyboards are displayed for participants to view. These educational installations are provided through a partnership between the Hackley Public Library, the Muskegon Area District Library, and the Muskegon Lake Watershed Partners.
The gathering serves as a community celebration of a local environmental achievement. It is designed for family participation and takes place at 2090 Lakeshore Dr. in Muskegon, Michigan. Registration for the event is free of charge and remains open until the day before the run. This event provides an opportunity for the community to engage with the restored natural landscape of the area through fitness and shared pride in the local watershed.
