Event overview
The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley 5k & 10k takes place on February 7, 2026 at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley in Winchester, VA. The event offers the following distances:
- 5k
- 10k
Points from the event count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack Series and toward the Winter Series. A virtual race option is available.
Course and logistics
The route is mostly paved with rolling hills and some short gravel sections. The 5k is a single out-and-back; the 10k consists of two out-and-back segments. The event is chip timed. Runners receive a finisher’s medal and a technical (Dri-fit) event shirt; shirts are guaranteed for those registered before January 28.
There will be one water station on the 5k (around mile 1.55) and three water stations on the 10k (approximately miles 1.55, 3.1, and 4.65). Gatorade will be available at some stations. Restrooms are inside the museum. Parking is available at the museum; a latitude-longitude pin is provided for directions.
Packet pickup is available at the event; arrival about one hour before the event is recommended to check in. Race day registration is permitted, though shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed for late registrants. Registration fees listed include early pricing through January 15 and a stated race-morning price increase.
Results and awards
Live results will be posted on Athlinks and via an on-site QR code; final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to first and second place in standard age categories from 19 & under through 70+. Top three overall finishers are not eligible to also win age-group awards.
The organizer operates as an all-weather event and will notify registrants if the race is canceled or changed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
