About the race
The Muratie Trails Marathon is a weekend trail event held at Muratie Wine Estate in the Knorhoek Valley near Stellenbosch on 12 and 13 December 2026. It combines trail running on Saturday with mountain biking on Sunday across private farmland and an established singletrack network on the slopes of Simonsberg.
Routes and highlights include:
- Mountain Bike 42 km : 27 km singletrack, 1600 m elevation gain
- Trail Run 21 km : mostly singletrack, 750 m climbing
- Fun runs : 6 km and 11 km
Support and logistics for participants:
- Multiple refreshment stations on both days (locations listed as 8.5 km, 12.5 km, 14 km and 26 km)
- Waterpoints and finish-line support
- Finishers medals and product prizes for top three in main categories
- Trail Tag timing included for mountain bikers; optional timing available for runners
- Bike wash and post-ride hospitality for mountain bikers, including a meal and a cold beer
- E-bikes allowed in a separate late-morning start and classified in a FUN category
- MTB solo men and women categories; junior category for ages 15 to 18
- Pre-entry only with limited places
